Akasa Air Expands Fleet To 42 Aircraft, Inducts Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 At Navi Mumbai Airport As 11th Addition Of 2026

Mumbai has seen Akasa Air expand its fleet to 42 aircraft, with the addition of a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 registered as VT-YBS. The aircraft arrived at Navi Mumbai International Airport on September 1, marking Akasa Air's eleventh aircraft induction in CY2026. This milestone signifies the airline's continued growth and its commitment to connecting more destinations, serving more customers, and contributing to India's rapidly growing aviation sector.

Akasa Air emphasized that the fleet expansion allows them to reach more places and cater to a wider customer base. The airline's growth is directly tied to the increasing size of its fleet, which enables it to contribute significantly to the country's aviation landscape.

The induction of the new aircraft came after Akasa Air had previously added its 40th aircraft on July 4. The latest aircraft underwent a delivery journey that began in Seattle, USA, flew to Reykjavik in Iceland, and concluded in Bengaluru. The plane was custom-built for Akasa Air's specifications and equipped with advanced seating options, including Safran Z200 seats. These seats offer passengers a generous four-inch recline, a contoured backrest, and enhanced online connectivity options like USB-C and USB-A ports.

Akasa Air has also placed a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with an additional 186 aircraft expected to join its fleet over the next six years. The airline remains on track to become one of the top 30 airlines globally within the decade, reaffirming its dedication to advancing the country's evolving air travel ecosystem.
