Airport strike in Argentina could disrupt flights on Thursday and Friday

Airport staff in Argentina are set to go on strike on Thursday and Friday, potentially causing flight delays at 27 of the country's 40 commercial airports. The dispute centers around the demand for increased salaries. The walkout, which will occur between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., and again from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on September 3 and 4, will impact Ministro Pistarini Airport in Ezeiza and Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires City, among others.

State employees from the National Civil Aviation Administration, comprising ground traffic controllers, firefighters, healthcare workers, inspectors, and administrative personnel, will be involved. The strike, called by the State Workers Association, does not include air traffic controllers, pilots, flight attendants, and other airline personnel, so cancellations are unlikely.

However, there could still be delays. Protests, marches, and assemblies are planned at the airports, which could further disrupt operations. ATE leader Rodolfo Aguiar attributes any issues to the government's failure to address their demands for improved working conditions. During the strike periods, affected workers will only handle medical, humanitarian, organ transport, and official flights.
