Actress Selassie Ibrahim loses husband; mourns him in a social media post

Ghanaian actress Selassie Ibrahim mourned the loss of her husband, former Food and Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Adam, on September 1, 2026. The couple had been married for many years before Ibrahim Adam's passing at the age of 75 due to undisclosed reasons at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. Selassie, a filmmaker and actress, shared heartfelt memories of her husband on her Instagram page, expressing that his legacy would live on.

Ibrahim Adam, an animal scientist by profession, held a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Agriculture. Prior to entering politics, he served as Agriculture Secretary under President Jerry John Rawlings and later became the Minister for Food and Agriculture from 1993 to 1996. He represented the Choggu/Tishigu constituency in Parliament from 1997 to 2001 and served as a Member of Parliament from the Second Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

Besides his political career, Ibrahim Adam also served as the Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank. The couple had two children, and following his death, his body was transported to Tamale for burial according to Islamic traditions.
