Defensive battle against Russia: Ukraine receives commitments for air defense at EU meeting
Ukraine urgently needs new air defense missiles to protect against Russian attacks. After long pressure, there are now apparently new commitments.
The EU has received new commitments to support Ukraine's air defense at a meeting of foreign ministers in Ireland's County Wicklow. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said she was pleased to hear announcements from member states to provide air defense, a request that had been made for a long time. The details of the new commitments and which countries made them will be publicly disclosed by the countries themselves, Kallas said.
The Ukrainian need for interceptors is around 300, and a prolonged shortage could be problematic, especially with regard to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in the winter.
