2 Filipino sailors killed in Iran’s attack on vessel, Saudi Arabia says

TEHRAN: Iran's top security official warned on Wednesday that the United States would soon face a new strategy from Tehran following the heaviest exchange of attacks between the two nations in weeks. Mohsen Rezaei, Iran's Supreme National Security Council secretary, stated on X that the US would face repercussions for the situation it had created.

He emphasized that Iran's new approach would impact the battlefield, diplomacy, and the economic blockade. The recent US strikes, part of ongoing skirmishes since February 28, targeted areas along Iran's coastline, the Strait of Hormuz, and various provinces across the west, southwest, and south of the country. One incident in Kuhestak town on Hormuz resulted in four deaths and 68 injuries during a wedding ceremony, which Iran's foreign ministry labeled as a war crime.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks on US military targets in Jordan, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Erbil in Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region. Iran's foreign ministry defended these actions, citing the inherent right of self-defense and urging regional countries to prevent the US military from utilizing their territories to launch attacks on Iran.

The conflict between Iran and the US has centered around the Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran has largely sealed since the beginning of the dispute, while the US has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
