Your emphasis on Tinubu’s past records now ludicrous – Presidential aide hits Peter Obi

President Bola Tinubu's Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement, Frederick Nwabufo, has dismissed the persistent focus on the late President's past records as unreasonable. Nwabufo was responding to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), who recently made remarks about a legal battle in a United States District Court concerning Tinubu's alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

Obi's post on X noted, "An imperfect past is part of the human condition. When will our political class fully appreciate that individual ambitions are temporary, while the nation endures?"

Nwabufo's statement criticized Obi's claims as "ludicrous." In his response, Nwabufo emphasized that the focus should remain on ideas rather than past records during political campaigns. He highlighted that the allegations against Tinubu have been investigated and found to be false, libelous, and even determined as such by the highest court in the land. Nwabufo described Obi's repeated emphasis on Tinubu's past records as a "tired and expired" tactic, used by a failing opposition lacking substantive campaign material.
