Women survivors face sanitation woes in Nepal's relief camp as concerns over hygiene and menstrual health rise following catastrophic flash floods. Scores of women at a school in Nuwakot district have been queuing for personal-care supplies, with only three toilets for over 400 people and no tap water access. An NGO provided sanitary pads, but disposal poses a significant issue, with used pads seen in bathrooms.

Yogita Tamang, whose family of 20 shares a cramped classroom, expressed worry about managing hygiene without proper undergarments. The UN Women agency reported that 43,000 women and girls require immediate humanitarian assistance, with water shortages and inadequate facilities posing additional risks for women and girls. Aid agencies warn that overcrowding and shared facilities could exacerbate these risks, while UNICEF emphasizes the need for psycho-social support and basic supplies to help displaced families regain a sense of normalcy.
