VVD MP quits lobby group board over conflict of interest claims

VVD MP Renate den Hollander has resigned from the management board of a veterinary lobby group following accusations of a conflict of interest. NOS reported that some of Den Hollander's parliamentary comments were strikingly similar to statements made by the BPW, an organization representing veterinary practice owners. Den Hollander, a 49-year-old former vet and Drenthe native, served as a member of the BPW before being elected to parliament last November.

She joined the BPW's management board this year, but resigned immediately after NOS compared her speech to the BPW's statement. Den Hollander cited the similarities as the reason for her resignation, stating that it could lead to future conflicts of interest.
