UP Wins 3 National GeM Awards; Govt Procurement Crosses ₹1 Lakh Crore, MSMEs Get Major Boost

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commended the state's progress in government procurement on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), highlighting three national awards received for transparency and inclusivity. MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary, Principal Secretary Shashi Bhushan Lal, and Deputy CEO Krishna Murari briefed the Chief Minister on the achievements.

The state government has facilitated procurement worth over ₹1 lakh crore through GeM since its launch. MSEs contributed more than ₹55,972 crore, making up over 55 percent of total procurement. At the GeM's 10th Foundation Day ceremony in New Delhi, UP was honored with three national awards: Overall Excellence, Highest Procurement Value, and Best Outreach Building.

As of July 2026, total government procurement through GeM in UP stood at ₹7,235 crore, with 59 percent (₹4,253 crore) from MSEs, 81 percent of which were state-owned (₹3,646 crore). Over four years, MSEs' share in GeM procurement has risen from 43 percent to 59 percent, alongside an increase in the share of state-owned enterprises.

The Yogi government has further expanded this access by issuing an order on GeM participation on November 26, 2024, leading to a significant increase in MSE participation. Women entrepreneurs, SC/ST entrepreneurs, and startups have also benefited, with significant shares in procurement worth over ₹16,953 crore in the current fiscal year.
