Unbeaten Canadian men’s basketball team beats Argentina 97-92 in World Cup qualifier

Quebec - Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Lu Dort, teammates with NBA's Atlanta Hawks, led unbeaten Canada to a thrilling 97-92 victory over Argentina in the FIBA men's basketball World Cup 2027 World Cup Americas Qualifier on Monday night. The Canadian team, unblemished through the group stage, secured their spot in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar with an impressive 8-0 record in Group F. Alexander-Walker contributed 26 points and five assists, while Dort added 25 points to the effort.

Canada trailed by 29-23 after the first quarter and 53-48 at halftime, but managed to push ahead into the final quarter with a 73-69 lead. Mfiondu Kabengele contributed 11 rebounds for Canada, while Nicolas Laprovittola led Argentina (6-2) with 31 points. Canada excelled in rebounds (35-33), shooting percentage (48-47), offensive rebounds (10-8) and assists (23-19) in the match.
