Ukraine war latest: Russian strike kills at least 12 in Kyiv and suburbs, including 6 rail workers

An Indian national lost his life and another sustained injuries when Russia launched missile and drone attacks in Ukraine overnight. The victim, Sudarshan Bhabhilala, a 40-year-old from Gujarat, died from a severe head injury sustained during the attack in the Kyiv region. Another Indian resident, Ganesh Kalleda, 35, from Telengana, suffered a leg injury and is now in stable condition.

The Indian embassy in Kyiv stated that they are working towards the early repatriation of the deceased's body and are in contact with the family and his company. They expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and are providing all necessary assistance. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed in a social media post that Bhabhilala was among 12 people killed in the attack.

The attacks targeted residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, causing significant damage. The incident occurred shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SCO Summit in Kyrgyzstan, where he urged Putin to transition from "endless war towards the end of war" in Ukraine.
