Toddler dies after falling through gap at Victoria Bridge in Kuala Kangsar

In Sungai Si Put, a three-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling from the Victoria Bridge. The unfortunate incident occurred around 6 pm yesterday, with the victim pronounced dead at Kuala Kangsar Hospital at 7.40 pm. District police chief Superintendent Charan Ai Wan confirmed that the young boy was walking with his father, who was 42 years old, when the accident took place.

The victim was holding hands with his father as they crossed the bridge when he fell five meters through a gap in the structure. The child was still alive at the time of falling and was promptly rushed to the hospital emergency ward. However, efforts to save his life were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at 7.40 pm.

The little boy hailing from Kluang, Johor, was visiting the iconic Victoria Bridge during a family holiday. A survey conducted at the scene revealed that the historic bridge was closed to visitors for safety reasons, and police alongside the Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council cordoned off the area with caution tape.

A stallholder near the location, who preferred to be identified as Nyah, recounted her husband and son-in-law's experience. Initially, they thought the loud thud they heard was a dropped bag but soon realized that a child had fallen from the bridge. Since it was a public holiday for National Day, many visitors, including those with young children, were present at the bridge taking photographs.
