On the 30th anniversary of its founding, The Laughter Factory celebrates its role in bringing world-class stand-up comedy to the Middle East. Founded in 1996 by Gail Clough and Duncan Jones, the club emerged at a time when the UAE's entertainment scene was dominated by musical acts. The pair sought guidance from Don Ward, the founder of The Comedy Store in London, who imparted valuable knowledge about running a successful comedy club.

From the outset, The Laughter Factory made it a priority to attract top-tier comedians from the UK, USA and beyond, bringing them to Dubai and Abu Dhabi for a series of shows each month. This approach has paid off handsomely over the years, as the club has introduced audiences to numerous comedians who have since become globally recognized.

Among these luminaries are Russell Peters, Vir Das, Kevin Bridges, Michael McIntyre, Jason Manford, Micky Flanagan, Frankie Boyle, Jack Whitehall and Dara Ó Briain. Gail Clough expressed her pride in the club's longevity, acknowledging how their efforts have helped launch the careers of these now-famous performers.
