Stephen Curry: 'I'm ready for Year 18, it's crazy that it's been this long'

The Golden State Warriors have been concentrating on securing a contract extension for their star player, Stephen Curry, after a disappointing offseason. Coach Steve Kerr has already committed to remaining with the team for two additional seasons, prompting the organization to prioritize extending Curry until he makes a decision about his retirement.

When asked about an extension during his first media appearance since becoming eligible for a one or two-year max deal, the veteran announced, "Extension stuff, we'll figure that out at the right time. But I’m ready for Year 18." Over his 17-year tenure with the Warriors, Curry has consistently delivered impressive statistics, averaging 26.6 points, 4.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game during the 2025-26 season.

If he decides to extend his career by another year, Curry would join an elite group of players who have reached the milestone of playing for a single franchise for 19 seasons, including Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, Tim Duncan of the Spurs, Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavericks, John Stockton of the Jazz, and Udonis Haslem of the Heat.
