Simms agreed with Florio, dismissing the argument that in-season contract talks could create distractions during the season. He pointed out that players are fully capable of discussing contract matters with their agents as needed, without it impacting their performance on the field.

By enforcing this hard stance, the Steelers are effectively creating a ticking clock, leaving no room for error before the kickoff. This policy not only puts pressure on Porter but also on the organization itself, highlighting the importance of this particular player to the franchise.
