Squire Patton Boggs ficha en Dentons para reforzar su equipo de bancario y financiero

Squire Patton Boggs has signed with Dentons to bolster its banking and financial team, according to EXPANSIÓN. The move sees Luis Belart become the practice's partner, Fermín Garbayo an of counsel, and Ignacio Fernández appointed as legal director. This marks a significant reinforcement for Squire Patton Boggs' banking and finance practice, which had no dedicated leader since Manuel Mingot left over nine years ago.

Belart, with over 20 years of experience, previously served as a partner in Dentons' Spain-based banking and finance practice since 2015. During his tenure, he focused on advising borrowers, companies, investment funds, and sponsors on structured finance transactions. Specializing in domestic and international structured finance, export financing, project finance (infrastructure, oil & gas, renewable energy), asset financing (aircraft and ships), trade finance, real estate financing, debt refinancing, restructuring, M&A, and pre-insolvency situations, Belart holds a double degree in law and international administration and management from the Complutense University of Madrid, European Business School in Madrid, New York, and Paris, along with an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona (Universidad de Navarra).

Garbayo, who was previously the practice partner for energy at Dentons Spain, is a recognized expert in acquisition operations and renewable energy project financing, as well as negotiating construction contracts, power purchase agreements, and O&M contracts. He previously served as a partner in Gómez-Acebo & Pombo's energy department and led the opening of offices in London and Lisbon.

Garbayo has advised major Spanish electricity companies on contractual diversification, as well as on acquisition and development of energy projects and infrastructure, primarily in Spain. Lastly, Ignacio Fernández, previously a counsel in Dentons' Spain-based banking and finance practice, has focused on acquisition and management of credit portfolios, including high-profile distressed and cross-border transactions.

He also specializes in cross-border syndicated financing, particularly in asset financing (aircraft, ships, real estate), export financing, refinancing, debt restructuring, structured financing, project financing, pre-contractual operations.
