#SHOWBIZ: Erma Fatima warns new artistes asking for 'ridiculous' RM100k paycheques

KUALA LUMPUR: Renowned film director Erma Fatima endorses actor-director Shahili Abdan, known as Namron, who recently criticized some aspiring actors for demanding exorbitantly high fees of RM100,000 for a single drama or movie. Erma, 58, emphasized that actors should evaluate themselves by considering their work experience, rather than their social media presence, which may be uncertain.

She firmly agreed with Namron's assertion that new actors should not act too presumptuous and demanding, especially when they have limited experience in major films or dramas. Erma urged all upcoming actors to conduct thorough research on the actual pay scales of production companies and broadcasters. She pointed out that many production houses struggle to achieve a 20% profit margin, a fact she deemed to be an unfortunate reality.

Erma highlighted the importance of humility, discipline, professionalism, and cooperation among actors, citing examples of respected figures like Eman Manan, Fauziah Ahmad Daud, Bront Palarae, Beto Kusyairy, and Nabila Huda. She made it clear that producers would be reluctant to collaborate with problematic and uncooperative actors.

At most, such individuals might only be engaged by a producer once. Erma concluded by asserting that true stars possess a professional attitude towards their colleagues on set and exhibit respect towards their senior colleagues.
