Russian drone strike shuts down Orlivka ferry crossing in Odesa Oblast

Russian forces launched a series of airstrikes against Odesa Oblast, Ukraine, on September 1, targeting the Orlivka international ferry crossing and causing widespread damage. The Izmail regional state administration confirmed that Russian Shahed drones struck the facility, igniting multiple fires. The crossing, which serves as a checkpoint on the border with Romania, was temporarily closed as all vehicle and pedestrian traffic was suspended.

Authorities informed Romanian officials of the situation, and traffic was redirected to alternative crossing points. Odesa City Military Administration Head Serhii Lysak reported that local infrastructure, including a high-rise apartment building and educational facilities, sustained damage during the assault. No casualties were reported.

The attack followed a large-scale bombardment of Odesa on August 27, further highlighting the ongoing conflict in the region.
