Rosmah dibenar kemuka keterangan baharu rayuan sabitan rasuah projek solar

The Malaysian High Court has ruled in favor of Rosmah Mansor, allowing her to present new evidence in her appeal against her conviction and sentence for corruption in the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project. A three-judge panel, comprising Judges Azhahari Kamal Ramli, Choo Kah Sing, and K Muniandy, stated that Rosmah met the requirements under Section 61 of the Courts of Justice Act 1964, as well as the standard set in the Ladd v Marshall case for the acceptance of additional evidence.

The court ordered that the additional evidence be taken before a new High Court judge over a two-week period following the management of the case, set for September 10th. The panel also re-scheduled Rosmah's hearing of her appeal for October 14th to 16th and October 19th to 23rd. Judge Choo mentioned that testimony from the 16th prosecution witness, Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah, would be conducted through cross-examination and re-examination.

Rosmah requested permission to rely on a police report, a sworn statement from Abdullah, and supporting documents. Rosmah claimed that these materials showed that Abdullah was pressured to provide testimony that she was guilty when questioned. Deputy Senior Prosecutor Asnawi Abu Hanipah later informed reporters that he would receive instructions on whether to appeal the decision made today to the Federal Court.

On September 2nd, 2022, High Court Judge Zaini Mazlan sentenced Rosmah for misconduct in demanding RM187.5 million from former Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd director Saidi Abang Samsudin, through former special assistant Rizal Mansor, to help secure the solar hybrid project. He was also found guilty of receiving RM5 million from Saidi via Rizal at Seri Perdana, Kuala Lumpur on December 20th, 2016, and an additional RM1.5 million at his residence on Langgak Duta Street on September 7th, 2017.

Zaini imposed a 10-year prison sentence for each of the three charges, with concurrent sentences, as well as a RM970 million fine and ordered Rosmah to serve an additional 10 years in prison if she failed to pay the fine. Rosmah was represented by attorneys Amer Hamzah Arshad, Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin, and Akberdin Abdul Kader, while the prosecution was handled by Asnawi and Isnina Hanim Hashim.
