Robert Stock’s first major league win in 7 years lifts Mets past Rays, 3-2

St. Petersburg, Fla. (AP) — Robert Stock pitched a shutout inning into the sixth for his first major league victory in seven years, while Mark Vientos hit a home run off the injured list. The New York Mets triumphed over the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 on Monday night. Stock's first win as a starter came after his previous victory in relief on April 5, 2019.

Vientos homered in his return from the injured list and helped secure the win with crucial defensive plays. Francisco Alvarez contributed an RBI single, and Christopher Morel made two pivotal defensive plays late in the game. Liam Hicks and Chandler Simpson each hit an RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning to bring the Rays within 3-2.

The Mets snapped an eight-game losing streak at Tropicana Field, breaking a 11-game losing streak against the Rays overall. Junior Caminero extended his hitting streak to 13 games. The Mets took the lead in the fourth inning, and the Rays loaded the bases but ultimately failed to score.
