Punjab Orders Strict Checking of Commercial Vehicle Driving Licenses

The Punjab Traffic Police has mandated rigorous inspections of commercial vehicle drivers' licenses throughout the region to enhance road safety and safeguard lives, according to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir. Traffic officials are instructed to ensure that commercial vehicles lacking valid licenses are prohibited from operating on Punjab's roads.

Over 60,000 individuals have received support for acquiring commercial driving licenses this month, while more than 3,400 regular commercial licenses have been issued by the department in the same period. Waqas Nazir emphasized that severe consequences will be imposed on drivers operating goods and passenger vehicles without valid permits, stressing that unlicensed drivers pose a threat to the safety of other road users and directed traffic authorities to take action against such violations.

All City Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) have been ordered to enforce mandatory license checks for commercial vehicles within their jurisdictions. Additionally, traffic officials are required to maintain stringent enforcement measures to prevent unlicensed commercial vehicles from operating on provincial highways and roads.
