‘Pune’s Law & Order Has Completely Collapsed’: NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule Urges CM Devendra Fadnavis To Pay Attention

Supriya Sule, an NCP (SP) MP, recently expressed her concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in Pune to reporters. She stated that the city's situation has "completely collapsed" and urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take a closer look. Sule criticized the state government for various issues, including increasing crime, protests, inflation, exam malpractice, and the ongoing controversy surrounding DJs during Ganeshotsav.

She highlighted that Pune ranks first in Maharashtra and fifth in the country in crime rates, based on data from the Union Home Ministry. Sule also pointed out that she had previously written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the issue and received a response claiming that crime was declining. However, she emphasized that the figures she cited were from official data submitted by the Maharashtra government to the Centre.

Sule further discussed the long-standing garbage issue in Pune, specifically focusing on the Phursungi garbage depot in Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. She mentioned that the city's garbage dumping area required immediate attention due to pollution, water-related problems, and alleged illegal dumping. Sule mentioned that she had met with Pune Municipal Corporation officials and local representatives to address the issue, but a follow-up meeting was scheduled for September 18.

Additionally, Sule addressed the protests taking place across Maharashtra, questioning why the ruling alliance, which holds around 200 MLAs, continues to allow protests when they could be addressing local civic issues instead. She also touched upon the controversy surrounding DJs and Dolby sound systems during Ganeshotsav, requesting a clear answer from Fadnavis regarding whether DJs would be permitted during the festival.
