Poltracking's 5 Recommendations for Prabowo-Gibran as Approval Falls

Indonesian pollster Poltracking Indonesia has proposed five strategies to enhance the performance of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's administration, as public trust in the government remains low. The government currently holds a trust rating of 63.2 percent, providing room for improvement.

A survey conducted by Poltracking from August 14 to 20 revealed that 55.1 percent of respondents were satisfied with the administration's performance, while 63.2 percent expressed trust in the government. However, satisfaction with the government's economic performance has dropped to a low of 41.8 percent, the lowest among the policy areas surveyed.

Poltracking recommends several steps to address public concerns. First, the government should prioritize protecting household purchasing power and creating employment opportunities, as high prices of basic necessities and higher household spending were identified as the top concerns by 44.3 percent and 62.5 percent of respondents, respectively. The economic performance satisfaction rate of 41.8 percent underscores the need for improvement in this area.

Second, the government should evaluate and refine the implementation of priority programs like the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and the Red-and-White Village Cooperatives (KDMP). These programs should offer more tangible benefits to the public.

Third, the administration should enhance governance and public communication. Public satisfaction varies across policy areas, with political affairs and national stability at 51.9 percent and law enforcement and corruption eradication at 48.3 percent.

Fourth, strengthening law enforcement and anti-corruption efforts is crucial. The survey recorded a satisfaction rate of 48.3 percent for these areas, placing them below education, social and cultural affairs, healthcare, and defense and security.

Lastly, Poltracking recommends strengthening checks and balances while maintaining coordination between the president and vice president. The cohesion of Prabowo and Gibran could contribute to a dynamic and productive democratic environment if balanced by proportional parliamentary oversight.
