Peshawar University Wants Establishment of KP HEC

The University of Peshawar Retired Employees Council is urging the establishment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Commission (KP HEC) to enhance the province's educational system. This proposal was debated at a general body meeting chaired by former vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ihsan Ali. Attendees included former vice-chancellors, retired teachers and staff, who addressed various concerns regarding retired university personnel, particularly their administrative and financial matters.

It was announced that a committee has been formed to draft a constitution for the council, which will be presented for approval at the next meeting. Discussions also covered annual service certificates, with calls for the university administration to collaborate with NADRA to streamline the certificate submission process, preventing retirees from repeatedly submitting them.

The council commended the university officials for their efforts to address retiree concerns, applauding the decision to raise pensions by 7% and further welfare measures. They emphasized the importance of promptly processing the District Regulatory Commission (DRC) matter, already approved by higher authorities, to ensure timely reimbursement of dues.

The council also decided to hold its annual dinner on September 25 at the Teachers Community Centre, inviting former vice-chancellors, university officials, educators, and other relevant figures.
