PCB Seeks Explanation Over Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq Selection

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested a written explanation from a member of its Selection/Advisory Committee regarding the selection of Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq for Pakistan's Test squad in the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England. The committee member, who participated in a selection meeting on June 2, recommended Rizwan and Imam for the squad based on their performances and other factors considered during the process.

The PCB has directed the member to outline the selection criteria used, Rizwan and Imam's performance metrics, and the rationale behind their selection. The written response is required within 24 hours of receiving the notice, as the PCB considers the matter "urgent and of utmost importance." This comes following Pakistan's recent poor performances, having lost both Tests to England and subsequently releasing seven players, including Rizwan and Imam, who were deemed suitable for selection.

The PCB has also reshuffled the coaching staff, with Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul being released ahead of the final Test in Birmingham.
