Ontario art teacher charged in sexual assaults of 2 children
Investigators were alerted in July to reports of a man attending the homes of two girls and allegedly inappropriately touching them.
In Pickering, Ontario, a 63-year-old art teacher, Faruk Dewan, has been charged with 22 counts of sexual assault and sexual interference involving two minor victims. According to prosecutors, Dewan, a known figure to both families, allegedly targeted the homes of the two girls between November 2025 and July 2026. Police allege that Dewan, who conducts art lessons from his residence, sexually assaulted the victims multiple times during this period.
Dewan was arrested in August and brought before a bail hearing. The Durham Regional Police are urging the public to come forward with any additional information regarding potential victims, as there may be more individuals affected by Dewan's actions.
