No admission fee for ST, SC students in government medical, engineering colleges: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste students will not have to pay any fees for admission to government medical and engineering colleges during the next six months. This decision came after the Chief Minister learned that many meritorious students from these communities face financial hardships even after successfully clearing rigorous entrance exams, according to an official release.

The release quoted Majhi as saying, "To solve this problem, CM Majhi has directed that students belonging to ST and SC communities will not have to pay any fees at the time of admission, and for a period of six months after admission." The state government plans to issue a formal guideline to implement this directive soon.
