Newcastle In Talks for AS Roma Star with Transfer Deadline Looming: Report

Newcastle United is actively pursuing AS Roma winger Matias Soule as the transfer window nears its conclusion. The 23-year-old Argentine has been on Newcastle's list of potential additions alongside Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who remains the club's primary target, and Stuttgart's Bilal El Khannouss. According to Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna, contact between Newcastle and AS Roma regarding Soule is already ongoing.

TEAMtalk's Graeme Bailey further revealed that Newcastle is competing with Sunderland for Soule's signature. Sunderland had made an approach for the player in July, but failed to reach an agreement with Roma. Roma had previously considered retaining Soule, but the Serie A club is now seeking additional attacking reinforcements. Other clubs, such as Fulham, Everton, Brighton, and AC Milan, have also shown interest in the player.

Soule, who spent most of the previous season as a No. 10 or second striker, can also play on the right wing and cut inside with his left foot, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists last season.
