Nationwide Building Society has announced the appointment of Simon McNamara as a Non-Executive Director to their board, as well as to the boards of Virgin Money UK Limited and Clydesdale Bank Limited. McNamara will assume this role immediately.
Prior to joining Nationwide, McNamara served as a Non-Executive Director at Computacenter since January 2025. He previously held the position of Group Chief Administration Officer at NatWest Group for ten years. In that role, he managed over 30,000 employees across the UK, EMEA, and India. Before NatWest Group, McNamara was the Chief Information Officer for Standard Chartered Bank’s Consumer Banking division.
McNamara brings more than 40 years of experience in technology and global operations within financial services to his new role. Mike Rogers, Group Chair of Nationwide, highlighted McNamara's significant technology leadership experience and deep financial services expertise, as well as his experience in operating within the UK Retail and Commercial Banking sector. The appointment was authorized for release by Jason Wright, Group Society Secretary.
