Narok farmers set to benefit as Ololunga-Mulot road nears completion

Farmers in Narok County will soon have improved access to markets as the construction of the Ololunga-Sogoo-Saptet-Mulot road nears completion, a report revealed on September 1, 2026. Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo stated that the 22 kilometers of the road, already paved to bitumen standards, is part of a larger rural network measuring between 78 to 81 kilometers.

The network links communities in Narok South, Narok West, Kilgoris, and Emurua Dikirr. The project, implemented by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) with funding from the national government, aims to transform dusty, impassable routes into reliable arteries of development in Narok. Omollo emphasized that the improved road will connect rural production centers, such as those growing maize, wheat, and vegetables, to markets, including the newly operational Ololulunga Modern Market.

This will greatly benefit farmers by making it easier to transport their agricultural produce, particularly dairy products, to market centres throughout the year. While 22 kilometers of the road have been paved, the remaining sections are still under construction, and the completion of the entire network is anticipated to significantly impact the agricultural livelihoods of Narok County farmers.
