Napoli and Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay to have surgery for an irregular heartbeat

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is set to undergo surgery to address an irregular heartbeat, the Italian club revealed on Tuesday. The Serie A team announced that the procedure, known as a PFA (pulsed field ablation), is a minimally invasive technique used to treat minor, benign arrhythmias. McTominay is expected to be sidelined until after the season's first international break, which means he will not return to action until October.

The 29-year-old McTominay was named Serie A's MVP after Napoli secured the championship in 2025, and he represented Scotland at the recent World Cup. He was substituted during the second half of Napoli's 2-1 defeat to Como on Sunday.
