Napoli and Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay to have surgery for an irregular heartbeat

Scott McTominay, the Scotland international midfielder for Napoli, is set to undergo heart surgery after being diagnosed with a mild, benign cardiac arrhythmia. The club announced on Tuesday that McTominay will undergo a cardiac arrhythmia ablation procedure using pulsed field ablation (PFA) in the coming days. PFA is a catheter-based technique that employs short electrical pulses to target and correct abnormal heart tissue responsible for cardiac arrhythmias. This relatively new method is becoming more commonly employed in treating heart rhythm disorders.

Napoli revealed that McTominay is expected to return to full fitness following the international break. The 29-year-old has quickly become a vital asset for the Serie A champions, contributing significantly to their title victory in his first season with the club and earning the Most Valuable Player award for the league.
