Mudryk leaves Chelsea for Tottenham on loan in bid to reignite career after doping case

Ukraine footballer Mykhailo Mudryk has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan from Chelsea, aiming to revive his career after being cleared to play following a doping case in November 2024. The 25-year-old, who signed for Chelsea in 2023 for 100 million euros, had not played since November 2024 after failing a drug test during international duty for Ukraine.

The adverse finding involved the prohibited substance meldonium. Mudryk was initially suspended for four years by the English Football Association in January but appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in April, resulting in his clearance to resume his career. Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi praised Mudryk's speed and ability in one-on-one situations, emphasizing his potential to be a valuable addition to the team.

With Tottenham investing over $400 million in new players this transfer window, they already possess several wide players, including Savio, who recently joined from Manchester City.
