Mion Education Directorate takes delivery of mono desks

The Mion District Education Directorate has recently received 1,520 mono desks, which will be distributed to selected public schools throughout the district. The desks were presented jointly by Alhaji Misbaw Adam Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Mion Constituency in the Northern Region, and the Mion District Assembly on Saturday. The initiative was facilitated through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and aimed at improving teaching and learning by providing essential furniture to public schools in the district.

Alhaji Mahama explained that the presentation followed an appeal made by the Mion District Director of Education after he lobbied the GETFund for the provision of the desks. He emphasized that education, particularly in infrastructure, should be a top priority, as the quality of teaching and learning significantly improves when students are equipped with adequate materials.

Alhaji Mahama pledged to continue advocating for infrastructure development in the Mion District and beyond, with the hope of providing a conducive learning environment for every child in the constituency. District Chief Executive Mr. Hamza Azindoo Moabalyn stressed that quality education is a cornerstone of national development and a priority for both the district and the country.

He reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to supporting education initiatives and assured constituents of the government's dedication to improving educational infrastructure and logistics.

Mr. Mohammed Amin Dawuda, the Mion District Director of Education, expressed gratitude to the MP and the Assembly for their efforts in lobbying the GETFund for the support. He noted that the furniture deficit was a major concern when he assumed office a year ago, prompting his appeal to the Assembly and the MP for assistance. Mr. Dawuda described the intervention as timely, as it will significantly reduce the furniture deficit and enhance learning outcomes across the district.
