Minimac Systems Raises ₹30 Cr To Scale Lubricant Recycling Infrastructure

Pune-based startup Minimac Systems has secured ₹30 Cr ($3.2 Mn) in fresh funding led by Zerodha’s investment arm Rainmatter. The venture aims to expand its lubricant recycling infrastructure across India. The capital will be used for research and development of miniaturised fluid treatment systems, fleet automation, and fluid analytics. Additionally, funds will bolster recycling technology and expand doorstep services.

Founded in 2012 by IIM Indore alumnus Anshuman Agrawal, Minimac Systems specializes in lubricant lifecycle management, encompassing three key areas: nano circularity, micro circularity, and recycling on wheels. Nano circularity monitors lubricant condition, micro circularity restores recoverable lubricant by eliminating contaminants, and recycling on wheels deploys mobile treatment systems directly at industrial plants for onsite assessment and restoration.

With India being the third-largest lubricant market, Minimac Systems anticipates a 4-5% annual growth in demand over the next five years. Globally, the country consumes more than 5 Mn tonnes of lubricants annually, despite importing over 60% of its base oil requirements, with an import bill exceeding $2.7 Bn.

Since its inception, Minimac Systems has deployed over 2,500 miniaturised fluid-treatment systems, boasting an installed processing capacity of 3 lakh liters per minute. The startup has collaborated with more than 2,200 industrial assets, conserving over 14 Mn liters of lubricant in productive use across India and overseas markets. Notable customers include NTPC, Adani Power, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, Reliance Industries, Shell, and ExxonMobil.

Minimac Systems aims to reduce 860 gigagrams of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 2034, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable lubricant management.
