Matthew Perry Docuseries Set at Netflix

Netflix is set to release a Matthew Perry docuseries in October, honoring the late "Friends" star's life and legacy. Titled "The One About Matthew Perry," the three-part documentary is the "first in-depth, definitive documentary" since his passing in 2023. Directed by Emmy Award winner Mary Robertson and produced by Maxine Productions, the series will feature testimonies from Perry's sister Mia Perry Bowick and his lifelong best friends.

Bowick expressed that it took time for her to feel ready to share her memories and the complexities of her brother's life. She described Matthew as having a "beautiful heart" and a "generous spirit," emphasizing his ability to make people laugh and feel loved even in his darkest moments. The docuseries will premiere on October 27, tracing Perry's journey from a rising comedic star to his iconic role as Chandler Bing in "Friends" and beyond.

Director Robertson highlighted Perry's impact as one of the comedic geniuses of our time, noting that his portrayal of Chandler Bing made millions laugh and connect, and that he bravely spoke about addiction. The series aims to reveal the person behind the public figure, as the public only knew part of Perry's story. Perry was found unresponsive in his jacuzzi in 2023, and he was pronounced dead due to a ketamine overdose.

Five people were charged for their involvement in the case, with Dr. Salvador Plasencia sentenced to 30 months' imprisonment and Jasveen Sangha, known as The Ketamine Queen, receiving a 15-year prison sentence for providing Perry with the drugs that led to his death.
