Masters’ Union Secures University Status From Haryana Govt

The state government of Haryana has recently granted full university status to Gurugram-based Masters’ Union (MU), enabling the company to operate as Master’s Union University. This decision, following the passage of the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026 by the Haryana Legislative Assembly, marks a significant milestone for the institution.

With its established reputation for entrepreneurship-focused and practitioner-led education, MU is poised to expand its academic offerings and infrastructure on a 5.14-acre site in Gurugram. The new campus will include accelerator hubs, maker labs, research facilities, residences, and cultural and sporting amenities. Over the next few years, MU plans to develop departments in Law, Medicine, Agriculture, Biotechnology, and introduce PhD programs and diplomas.

Its founder, Pratham Mittal, emphasizes the university's commitment to "learning by doing," noting that students will tackle real-world problems, work with experts, and manage resources to make a tangible impact. Many of MU's faculty members are industry leaders, including notable figures such as SoftBank India's former head Manoj Kohli, Swiggy's CEO Rohit Kapoor, and Zerodha's cofounder Nithin Kamath.

The university has already incubated over 80 student startups, with 10 of them raising more than ₹65 crore in funding and generating a combined annual revenue of ₹320 crore in FY25. MU's commitment to student entrepreneurship is further demonstrated through its Venture Initiation Programme (VIP) and the recent launch of a $10 million fund by its sister business Tetr College of Business to support these startups.
