Marina Square mall to close in March 2027 for redevelopment

Singapore's renowned Marina Square Shopping Mall will be demolished in March 2027 as part of a major redevelopment project at the Marina Centre complex, the Singapore Land Group (SingLand) announced on September 1. The mall will close its doors next year to make way for a new mixed-use development that will include residences, hotels, offices, retail spaces, sports and wellness facilities, and arts and cultural areas.

The redevelopment is expected to be completed by 2031 and will transform the 9.2-hectare Marina Square complex into a vibrant, interconnected destination. Three existing hotels in the complex - Pan Pacific Singapore, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, and Mandarin Oriental Singapore - will remain open throughout the construction period.

The new 49-story residential tower will house over 200 luxury apartments, while a 19-story mixed-use tower will feature a 304-room hotel and 13,000 square meters of premium office space. A 24-story serviced apartment tower will also be built, offering 260 units with views of Marina Bay and Bay East Garden. The mall itself will undergo an extensive asset enhancement initiative, with its new retail mix focusing on food and beverage, sports, wellness, and lifestyle concepts.

The redevelopment will also add a 6,500-square-meter public park, more than 4,000 square meters of privately owned public space, and two significant event venues. SingLand CEO Jonathan Eu described the project as an opportunity to create a new ecosystem where people can live, work, stay, and connect.
