Man City sign Ndiaye from Everton for £65m

Manchester City have secured the signature of winger Iliman Ndiaye from Everton in a deal valued at up to £65 million. The 26-year-old Senegalese player, who made his professional debut in the seventh tier of English football over six years ago, has agreed to a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium. Ndiaye expressed his excitement about the opportunity, stating that he has worked his entire life for such a chance and that playing for one of the world's best clubs is a dream come true for him.

Despite facing challenges in his career, Ndiaye remains confident that he can compete for the biggest prizes with City.

Ndiaye made 74 appearances and scored 21 goals for Everton since joining them from Marseille in 2024. Initially, Tottenham had agreed to the deal on Friday night, but it seemed that Richarlison would move in the opposite direction. However, Richarlison failed to reach a personal agreement with Everton, preventing the transfer from completing.

Meanwhile, City also paid a record £125 million for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez on the same day, solidifying their summer signings list, which already includes Elliot Anderson, Geronimo Rulli, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Allan Elias, Jeremy Monga, and Pierce Charles.

Ndiaye's skill set is highly regarded, with his dribbling ability and quickness being particularly noteworthy. Last season, he was responsible for 73 of Everton's 250 completed dribbles, the highest among all Premier League players. This statistic highlights his importance to Everton's attacking play. However, some Everton fans might argue that City should have demanded a higher fee for Ndiaye, considering their past sale of Savio to Tottenham for £75 million.

On the other hand, Everton may feel that they have quadrupled their initial £16 million investment, given Ndiaye's underlying numbers at the club. Although his current output may not be elite, Ndiaye's numbers are expected to improve in a more attacking environment at City. Nonetheless, compared to the overall transfer activity in the Premier League this summer, Ndiaye's £65 million price tag may not appear as unreasonable as it initially seems.
