Man accused of threatening EOCO staff granted GH¢100K bail

Accused marketer Kweku Osei Korankye Asiedu, also known as Koka, has been granted bail in the amount of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, according to Accra Circuit Court. The charges against Asiedu include threatening Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) staff with death. The court has required him to submit his passport and a copy of his Ghana Card at the court registry, and to appear before the case investigator on the last Friday of each month.

The case has been postponed until November 3, 2026. Asiedu, who is linked to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pleaded not guilty to charges of death threats, offensive conduct, and dissemination of false information. Prosecutors stated that Asiedu's alleged threats were made in videos shared on social media. Specifically, a video recorded on May 29, 2026, allegedly contained threats against EOCO personnel, claiming to know their locations and stating a willingness to kill them.

Another video, released on July 13, 2026, allegedly misled the public by falsely claiming that President Akufo-Addo had ordered a halt to food donations to EOCO's detained investigator, Dennis Miracles Aboagye. The prosecution argued that Asiedu's actions were intended to provoke a breach of peace and undermine the lawful duties of EOCO officials. The accused was subsequently arrested, and when questioned, allegedly admitted to the charges.
