Learning beyond the classroom with 10 bagless days

Students in Telangana schools will soon experience more opportunities for hands-on learning outside the traditional classroom setting, thanks to the department's bagless days program. This initiative, set to be implemented from September 19, will allocate 10 bagless days each month for classes from 1 to 10.

The primary goal of this program is to make learning more enjoyable and less stressful by shifting from conventional classroom routines to activity-based and experiential learning. A specially crafted module by the State Council of Educational Research and Training will aid teachers in designing these activities.

These activities are expected to include a variety of tasks such as quizzes, experiments, field visits, surveys, doodling, model-making, skits, role-play, and hands-on activities. Additionally, they will provide learning outcomes, relevant skills, and information on potential career paths.

The program aims to foster a learning environment where students observe, explore, question, collaborate, and connect their classroom lessons with the world around them. Activities could also involve visits to sites of historical or cultural significance, interactions with local artisans and professionals, environmental initiatives, or arts and crafts.

Schools will have the flexibility to tailor these activities based on students' age, interests, local circumstances, and available resources. Officials hope this approach will encourage students to actively engage with their surroundings and understand the practical applications of their studies.
