KPSC ‘scam’: CID arrests key middleman, reportedly associated with BJP in Karnataka

The Karnataka Crime Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended a key suspect at Delhi airport as part of an investigation into the alleged Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) jobs scam. The suspect, identified as a middleman, was reportedly on his way to Uzbekistan. The case revolves around the recruitment of veterinary doctors for 400 positions in the state's animal husbandry department.

Basavaraj Kannale, the detained individual, was taken into custody on Sunday night and subsequently charged with attempting to flee the country. He appeared before a court in Bengaluru on Tuesday. According to prosecutors, Kannale is accused of facilitating the recruitment of low-scoring candidates in the veterinarians entrance exam held in January, in exchange for a payment of Rs 80 lakh.

The accused, who is from Bhalki in Bidar and associated with the BJP, has been linked to the party through social media images with BJP leaders. However, Bhagwanth Khuba, the leader of the BJP Bidar unit, has denied these claims, stating that Kannale is not a BJP worker and has no affiliation with the party.
