Jury finds ex-gang leader guilty of murder in Tupac case

An ex-gang leader, Duane "Keffe D" Davis, has been found guilty of murder in connection with the 1996 slaying of hip-hop star Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 63-year-old Davis was convicted by a jury after an 11-day trial. Davis, a leader of the South Side Compton Crips, is alleged to have orchestrated the drive-by shooting that resulted in Shakur's death.

The prosecution presented evidence, including recordings of Davis' secret meetings with investigators and his 2019 memoir, which contributed to their case. Davis faces a potential life sentence without parole at his sentencing on October 13. He stated that he plans to appeal the verdict. According to prosecutors, Davis could be held responsible for Shakur's death even if he didn't pull the trigger, as he provided the weapon to another individual who carried out the shooting.
