Juiced up Geely Riddara is now South Africa’s fastest bakkie

The electric bakkie market in South Africa is witnessing an electrifying shift as Geely prepares to claim the title of the country's fastest bakkie. The Geely Riddara Apex RD6 double cab, powered by a battery electric system, is set to leave its competitors in the dust with a mind-boggling 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.5-seconds.

Bye's BYD Shark and JAC T9 PHEV initially showcased impressive performance, with the Shark reaching 5.5-seconds and the T9 PHEV at 5.9-seconds from 0-100km/h. However, the Jetour F700 took the crown with a claimed time of 5.0-seconds, a figure that left many in awe.

Now, Geely is poised to dethrone the Jetour F700, thanks to the Riddara Apex RD6's exceptional power and torque. With 315kW of battery electric power and 595Nm of torque, this all-wheel-drive double cab bakkie is not just fast but also incredibly capable. It can carry over a tonne, tow up to three tonnes, and tackle challenging terrain with ease.

GASA COO Greg Maruszewski commends the Geely Riddara for delivering the performance and dynamic response of a high-performance car while maintaining the practicality of a bakkie. The Riddara offers various trims, including the Riddara Aspire Econ 2WD with 180kW and 309Nm, the Riddara Aspire Econ 4WD with 280kW and 485Nm, and the top-of-the-line Riddara Apex RD6 4WD with an impressive 315kW and 595Nm.

Geely backs its electrifying offering with a comprehensive ownership package. Buyers can enjoy a six-year/150 000km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/200 000km battery warranty, a six-year/120 000km service plan, and five years of unlimited roadside assistance. The first 200 customers who purchase a Riddara will receive an extended one-year and 50 000km warranty, while the service plan will also be extended by one year and 20 000km.
