Jonathan Bailey Drops Out of ‘Sunday in the Park With George’ Following Ariana Grande’s Exit

Ariana Grande's exit from the cast of the West End revival production, "Sunday in the Park With George," has led to Jonathan Bailey's announcement of his own departure. Bailey, who had previously starred alongside Grande in the Wicked movies, cited their deep friendship as the reason for his decision to withdraw from the production.

He expressed his admiration for director Marianne Elliott, describing her as "extraordinary" and a "longest collaborator and friend." The West End revival of "Sunday in the Park With George," set to open in summer 2027, is based on Georges Seurat's pointillist painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Following Grande's announcement, casting discussions are underway for the production, with a new cast being assembled to continue the artistic vision of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical.
