IT Minister Announces National Digital Stack for Young Developers

Pakistan is developing a national digital stack to broaden digital services and opportunities for its youth, announced Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja at LEAP 2026 in Riyadh. During the inauguration of the Tech Destination Pakistan Pavilion at the conference, Khawaja highlighted several initiatives driving Pakistan’s digital transformation.

These include new legislation, improved connectivity, and significant investment in the technology sector. Khawaja introduced the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, establishing the National Digital Commission and Pakistan Digital Authority to oversee the nation’s digital strategy. She also announced the upcoming 5G spectrum auction, special technology zones, and tax incentives for the IT sector to enhance Pakistan’s technology ecosystem.

The minister stated that the government is constructing the necessary digital infrastructure, with young people and the private sector playing pivotal roles in creating new products and services. Khawaja emphasized the importance of robust institutions and clear targets to ensure digital transformation projects yield results. The Tech Destination Pakistan Pavilion showcased 25 startups and 50 Pakistani technology companies presenting solutions in artificial intelligence, automation, and other digital technologies.

This participation in LEAP 2026 aims to attract foreign investment, foster international business partnerships, and help Pakistani technology firms gain access to global markets. Khawaja further highlighted plans to strengthen cooperation with Saudi Arabia in digital technology, innovation, and skills development.
