Iran’s Red Crescent says 4 killed, 50 wounded at wedding by US attack

On Tuesday, the Iranian Red Crescent reported that a US attack during a wedding in Sirik, Hormozgan province, resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a child, and left over fifty people wounded. The attack damaged a residential home in Kuhestak, where a wedding celebration was taking place. A video shared by an Iranian government account depicted extensive debris and damage at the site, accompanied by audible screams of the affected individuals.

Deputy Governor Ahmad Nafisi of Hormozgan province initially informed state television that two people were martyred and others were wounded. The region of Sirik lies along the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The United States claimed to be targeting Revolutionary Guards following their recent attacks against commercial shipping in the Strait and American service members deployed to the area.

However, the specific targets in Sirik county remain unclear. On Tuesday, Iran reported explosions in various cities along and east of Hormuz, as well as at an airport in Kerman province. Iran and the United States have been at war since February 28, following US-Israeli strikes that killed Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and other senior military officials.

Iran has since retaliated with attacks across the region, casting doubt on the prospects for a final peace agreement.
