India’s ambition will be settled in small enterprises, says SICCI president

Arun Alagappan, the president of the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), emphasized at the chamber's 116th Annual General Meeting that India's vision for 2047 will not be achieved in the boardrooms but rather through small enterprises. He underscored the importance of industries like manufacturing, agriculture, technology, infrastructure, defense, green and blue economy, and global trade, all of which rely on the MSME sector to be successful.

Alagappan further highlighted that the next decade belongs to the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, as both have set ambitious goals for economic growth. Tamil Nadu aims to build a trillion-dollar economy, while Andhra Pradesh is targeting Swarnandhra @2047. In both cases, Alagappan stressed that small enterprises, not large corporations, will be instrumental in achieving these targets.

The Minister for MSME, SERP, NRI Relations, and Empowerment of Andhra Pradesh, Kondapalli Srinivas, noted in his inaugural address that empowering a household is the foundation for a stronger state and nation. He emphasized that by creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, employment, and higher incomes, Andhra Pradesh aims to enable households to make significant contributions to economic growth.

Srinivas added that the state is working towards creating an enabling ecosystem for MSMEs through industrial parks, common facilities, access to finance, and innovation.
