‘I'm afraid of him': Sharjah man reported son to police, recalls prosecutor warning of families being torn apart by drugs

In Sharjah, a young girl reported her father to the police during the final days of Ramadan before Eid, due to his drug addiction causing familial strife. The girl explained that her father's abnormal condition prevented the family from visiting relatives and others, leading to a fear of his behavior. Fortunately, the family managed to celebrate Eid, but the father had to spend it in prison.

Another case involved an elderly father in his 70s who pleaded with authorities for help as his addicted son exhibited increasingly aggressive and unpredictable behavior. The father feared the family would no longer be able to sleep peacefully or live normally due to his son's conduct. The prosecutor emphasized that drug addiction can transform a family home into a place of constant fear, leading to threats, sleeplessness, and anxiety among relatives.

A man under the influence of drugs believed he was a cat, hiding under cars and walls, showcasing the severe psychological and behavioral consequences that can result from drug use. Finally, a young man tried drugs once, convinced he could do so without becoming addicted, leading to changes in his mood, behavior, and deteriorating relationships with family and academics.

The prosecutor warned that drug dealers increasingly exploit young people's curiosity through social media and messaging applications, promoting drugs and arranging transactions without face-to-face meetings.
