The player's clothes, hair, and other attributes all factor into the police's pursuit of the player. Losing the wanted level does not mean the player is completely free, as they will need to disguise themselves to escape the police entirely. The gamer tested this new system by firing on people in downtown Los Santos, and the police had his physical description and knew the expensive clothes he was wearing.

This did not necessarily help them find him, as they were busy with other issues like vehicle troubles, gang warfare, and hit squads. The gamer tried to avoid the wanted level by going to a store to change clothes, but the store had a rule against selling to people surrounded by angry, armed cops. The gamer had to run through the city to find a new shirt.

While changing clothes, the player's unshaven appearance was noted by the barber, who remarked that the player looked "Goooooorgeous," apparently approving of the player's efforts to avoid punishment for murder. The police did not recognize the player when standing in front of the police station, but they did recognize the player's shotgun and noted that the player had forgotten how to holster it using a keyboard. The police began shooting at the player, and the gamer considered his mission successful.
