Meta has officially launched Muse Code out of beta, less than a month after its initial debut. Alongside new features and an SDK, Meta has introduced three new subscription plans ranging in price from $5 to $50 per month. This pricing structure adds predictable monthly costs to a product that initially stood out for undercutting competitors on cost.

Muse Code, powered by Meta's Muse Spark 1.2 model, functions as a terminal-based coding agent aimed at handling complex software engineering tasks across large codebases. Upon its initial release, Muse Code already offered asynchronous background agents and the capability to manage long-running engineering tasks. For its public launch, Meta has added features like inter-session messaging, Workflows, and a rewind function.

Inter-session messaging allows separate Muse Code sessions to share context and state when their work overlaps. Workflows, on the other hand, orchestrates teams of specialized agents across larger jobs, tracking intermediate work between stages and returning a single result. A rewind feature enables developers to roll back conversation and code changes to an earlier point in a Muse Code session.

The pricing aspect of Muse Code initially sparked controversy due to its pay-as-you-go tiers and opt-in data usage for the Contributor tier. However, with the full launch, Meta has introduced subscription tiers alongside its existing pay-as-you-go options. The Everyday Usage plan costs $5 per month, the High Usage plan is priced at $15 with three times the usage, and the $50 Power Usage plan offers 10 times the usage.

This pricing puts Muse Code well below its main rivals, such as Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex, which include their respective coding agents with higher-priced subscription plans. The new subscription tiers and the SDK will allow developers to better utilize Muse Code for various coding tasks across different scales.
